GDP Portals Will Transform your Talon
Your ride style is as unique as you are, which is why we don’t make “one size fits all” portals. With SuperATV’s Gen 3 4” Portal Gear Lift, you’ve got options for your Honda Talon 1000R. First off, you tell us which gear reduction you want—a 30% reduction is perfect for big tires and even bigger torque, while 15% is ideal for smooth, precise trail riding. You can opt for dual idlers for maximum strength and choose between cast or billet aluminum housings. No matter what you choose, you get a portal gear lift that just can’t be beat.
What Is a Dual Idler?
Perfection takes time. After years of research and development, we’ve made our dual idler gear portals unlike any other. By placing a second idler gear in the portal box, the load gets spread over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and the strongest gear set you can get. Two idler gears don’t do a thing if they’re not mated perfectly, though. Precision CNC grinding ensures ours do. Our gears are made from the industry’s toughest 9310 steel alloy. Didn’t think dual idlers mattered? With GDP’s quality and experience, they finally do.
Perfect for Any Rider
You haven’t truly experienced mud if you haven’t tackled the bogs while riding on GDP portals with a 30% gear reduction. Getting slowed down by thick, peanut-butter mud will be a thing of the past with the torque boost that GDP gives you. Our 30% gear reduction is great everywhere, but if you want the fastest lifted Talon you can get, go with 15%. It gives you punchy power and a higher top speed.
A Gear Reduction That Protects Your Drivetrain
A huge advantage of portal gear lifts is how they put the lift right in the hub, which doesn’t put additional or unnecessary stress on your drivetrain. This lets you ride harder and tackle bigger obstacles without messing up your machine’s most vital parts.
The Strength You Need
We’ve done enough research on portals to understand what can make or break them. That’s why you won’t find housings or backing plates stronger than what we use for our GDP portals. You get the choice of cast or billet aluminum housings to go with you 5/16” advanced alloy backing plates. No matter what, you get unmatched strength and reliability.
- Our housings are reinforced for gear retention and optimized for oil flow
- Advanced steel alloy backing plates are stronger than chromoly
- Enhance with Portal Blood—gear oil formulated for GDP Portals
- There are no gimmicks and no vents because vents do more harm than good—we know because we tested them
Advanced Gaskets, Seals, and Bearings
Our portals use:
- Advanced Thermo-Tork® gaskets and O-rings with excellent oil resistance and low deterioration rates
- A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
- 100% sealing coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
- Double-angular contact output bearings to prevent premature wear
- Roller idler and drive bearings to maintain perfect gear meshing
Reinforce Your UTV with a Frame Stiffener
Your Honda Talon is a powerhouse of a UTV. It’s built for high-octane action and hard rides. It’s also tough enough to handle 4” portals. But, if you add another lift, big tires, and heavy passengers, there’s a chance you could bend your frame. So for you go-big-or-go-home types, we recommend adding a heavy-duty steel frame stiffener to your ride. It’ll make sure your Talon stays good as new.
